Galantas Enters into collaboration with the Haileybury School of Mines and Adds Carlo Cattarello as Advisor

Toronto - August 23, 2004: Galantas Gold Corporation (GAL: TSX-V) announced today that it has entered into a collaboration with the Haileybury School of Mines in Haileybury, Ontario to provide pilot scale processing of bulk sample material recently recovered from the Company's wholly owned Omagh gold property located in County Tyrone, the first and only project to have achieved full planning consent to mine gold in Ireland.

The work will be supervised by Mr. Carlo Cattarello who is a recently retired professor of mineral processing at the school. Mr. Cattarello has over thirty years experience in the mining industry as a metallurgist and teacher, and will be personally supervising the ore processing and metallurgical research to be conducted on the Omagh ore.

This work will continue to build on the successful metallurgical test-work completed by Lakefield Research in Ontario and the results bulk sample processing by Reminex Laboratories in Morocco and Mintek in South Africa. Results from these processed bulk samples extracted from the Kearney pit using selective mining techniques, are as follows:

"The work that will be conducted at the Haileybury School will allow the development of the final specifications for the mineral processing flow-sheet in advance of acquiring the milling equipment required for the Omagh Project", said Andrew Lee Smith, President and CEO of Galantas Gold Corporation. "We are pleased that Mr. Cattarello has agreed to support this aspect of the Company's plan to develop Ireland's first gold mine and feel that the work will have tremendous value in ensuring an appropriate and efficient milling operation will be established at Omagh in the coming months".

The gold recovered from the bulk samples is used to supply the Galantas Gold subsidiary Galantas Irish Gold Ltd with certified Irish gold for the ongoing development and marketing of the Galantas™ line of luxury, 18 carat Irish Gold Jewelry. The jewelry line produced from gold extracted from the Omagh property is being marketed to the public through leading retailers in Ireland and directly via the internet. To date, sales from jewelry have generated revenues exceeding C$350,000.
